Kuno is a young national park, and there are very few places to stay close to it. Plan your night stop before you book your safari — here are your options.
1. Kuno Resort (Sesaipura highway)
The only hotel right near the park is Kuno Resort, built beside the Kuno river on the Sesaipura highway. It used to be a government rest house and has now been turned into a hotel. It sits on the road to Tiktoli Gate, so it's handy for an early-morning safari. Rooms are limited — book well in advance, especially from October to March.
2. Hotels in Sheopur town
Sheopur is the nearest town, about 70 km (1 hr 30 min) from the park, with more hotels and places to eat. It's the most practical base for most visitors. Staying in Sheopur? Our Sheopur pickup & drop safari package collects you from your hotel and brings you back after the safari.
3. Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore)
Sawai Madhopur is about 135 km (2 hr 30 min) from Kuno and has a wide choice of hotels and resorts because of Ranthambore National Park. It's a good base if you want to see both tigers and cheetahs — see Kuno vs Ranthambore.
Coming via Ahera Gate?
If you are coming from Gwalior, Shivpuri, Indore or Bhopal and plan to enter by Ahera Gate, your night stop will be on that side of the park. Please note that we don't run or book safaris from Ahera Gate — our safaris start only from Tiktoli Gate. To ride with us, stay at Kuno Resort or in Sheopur and come to Tiktoli Gate.
Tips
- The morning safari starts at 06:00 AM — stay as close to your gate as you can.
- From Sheopur, leave early: the drive to the gate takes about 1 hr 30 min.
- Need a cab between your hotel and the park? Book a taxi.
